Makes one serving Ingredients: 60 gms mix dal 1 cup water 1 small onion, chopped 1 small tomato, chopped 1 green chili, chopped 1/2 tsp ginger paste 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chili powder Salt to taste 1 tsp oil Coriander leaves for garnish

Preparation
1. Wash the mix dal and soak it in water for 15 minutes. Drain the water and set aside.
2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker or a deep pot.
3. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
4. Add chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent.
5. Add chopped tomato, green chili, and ginger paste. Cook until tomato softens.
6. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
7. Add the soaked masoor dal and water. Mix well.
8. If using a pressure cooker, close the lid and cook on high heat until two whistles. Then, lower the heat and cook for another 10-12 minutes. If using a deep pot, cover it with a lid and cook until the dal is tender, stirring occasionally.
9. Once the dal is cooked, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
