Chana Dal

Makes one serving Ingredients: 1/4 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram) 1 small onion, finely chopped 1 small tomato, finely chopped 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional) 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder Salt to taste 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (optional) Oil or ghee for cooking Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Ingredients for this Recipe

Soaked and boiled chana dal

Small onion, chopped

Small tomato, chopped

1 no

Green chillies

1 tsp

Cumin seeds

1 tsp

Turmeric powder

Salt to taste

60 ml

Coriander leaves

1 tbsp

Preparation

1. Rinse chana dal in water and soak it for 30 minutes.

2. Drain the water and rinse the dal again.

3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat.

4. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

5. Add chopped onion and saute until translucent.

6. Add chopped tomato and cook until it becomes soft.

7. Add chana dal, turmeric powder, green chili (optional), and salt. Mix well.

8. Add water and mix again.

9. Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles on high heat.

10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
