Beans Poriyal
Make one serving Ingredients: 1 cup chopped beans 1 tbsp grated coconut 1 tsp oil 1/4 tsp mustard seeds 1/4 tsp cumin seeds 1/4 tsp urad dal (split black gram) 1/4 tsp chana dal (split Bengal gram) 1-2 dried red chilies A pinch of asafoetida (hing) Salt to taste

French beans, chopped

Grated coconut

Oil

Mustard seeds

Chana dal

Preparation
1. Wash and chop the beans into small pieces. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
2. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Saute until the dals turn golden brown.
3. Add dried red chilies and asafoetida. Saute for a few seconds.
4. Add chopped beans and salt. Mix well. Cover the pan and cook the beans for 5-7 minutes or until they are tender but still have a slight crunch.
5. Once the beans are cooked, add grated coconut and mix well. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish.
